Nothing has fixed the issue and it is infuriating. I am considering moving to YT music or Apple Music as my speakers have become effectively useless with My Spotify account that I’ve had for 10 years. I also had a chat with the google home/nest support. We did al kind of options and finally they say it must be spotify. This is kind of a scary thing for me since I plan to use my phone for some of the playlists for my wedding. Google puts its Google Home devices through a battery of tests to wring out the very best sound quality from such small speakers.
When i select next on my phone its starts skipping songs again and play a song for 10 seconds. Every phone that conects with my google home mini have the same problem. When i conect with the chromecast or blue tooth everything works fine. Also other audio streaming software works fine I reset my google home mini, unlinked spotify from the google home. This used to happen on my phone, and was ultimately the reason I dropped my Spotify subscription.
Google Home keeps pausing randomly
A bit after starting to play, I can no longer skip or control from iTunes on my phone. I have to open the Home app to control the playback. This is with hand off to Homepod disabled. This is one issue I've not wasted time troubleshooting but thought I'd mention it. If your speaker or display is within 15 ft - 20 ft (4.5 m - 6 m) of the router, and music is still choppy when you play from your speaker or display, try one of the steps below. If music is still choppy or stutters, move to the next step.

It happens often enough that it gets annoying, and I either have to ask it to resume or press play on my phone, sometimes it resumes on its own. You will also have to restart your router since it is often used for dealing with traffic for all your devices in your network. This can create some issues with your devices like Google Home which may fail to play your music. You are therefore required to restart your router by unplugging the power supply, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in again as demonstrated in the figure below. Also, it's not just what you play, but where you play it that matters.

I had the same issue and switched to the 2.4Ghz one and everything is fine now. Furthermore, it can connect to other smart home devices, making it possible to control a variety of your home activities. Still, music playing randomly—especially at early hours when all you want is total silence—can be pretty annoying.

It's a newer device so I have hope it'll improve. The only problem you’ll face by taking this step is that other settings will be deleted. When a software bug enters a system, it affects how the system functions.
A Google rep posted on the forums on Nov. 19 stating the company is going to do some “further research on this matter”. However, that’s the last time that a team member has posted on the issue in those forums. In the meantime, more and more owners of Google Home have been reporting the same random music interruptions. For instance, Pandora music will stop playing on your Google Home when you start streaming the same from your computer. The same applies to Google Play Music and Spotify which only support one device playback at a time.

It will go through stretches where it auto pauses every like 5 seconds, as soon as i unpause and set phone down it pauses again. Then it will be fine for a few songs then states pausing again. The Google Home device could be playing music randomly due to a software bug.

I contacted their support about the issue and was told that with a free account the music stream is paused occasionally to inject an ad, then the stream is restarted. With the subscription service the music is still paused, but there's no ads, so it's supposed to be immediately restarted...and that last step wasn't happening. Maybe if the same is happening with GH. So far, there’s no explanation for why this might be happening.
I'm going to go buy a shielded cable to replace the one they installed. That should prevent the HomePod from being affected by the cable signal. It's also important to note that I can play from my phone to the speaker with no issue. The problem here is that the speaker "takes over" the playlist.

Sorry for the long post but thought I'd share since others are experiencing a very similar issue. Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.
